Eleven tented suites on the edge of the Ghoha Hills, looking out over the Savuti Plains.
FACILITIES
The pool, the deck, the dining area and the fire all face the same direction: down across the waterhole and out over the Savuti Plains.

A safari day at Ghoha Hills Savuti has a long gap in the middle of it. The morning drive goes out before breakfast has properly settled and comes back toward lunch, and the afternoon one does not leave until the heat has gone out of the day. The hours in between are what the lodge is built for.
Everything sits on the same slope and faces the same way. The rock pool has its own deck a short walk from the main area, the spa is in a separate building beside the gym with the plains in front of it, and the thatched main lodge holds the bar, the dining space and a handful of small lounges above an active waterhole. Wildlife carries on below while you are doing nothing much at all.
DINING
The thatched main area is the social centre of the lodge, with an open dining space, a bar and several small lounges spread across viewing decks. All of it faces an active waterhole below and the 180 degree sweep of the Savuti Plains beyond.
DINING
Meals move around the lodge through the day. Breakfast goes out before the morning drive, lunch and high tea land between activities, and dinner is served in the thatched dining area, on the deck or around the boma fire. The cooking is locally inspired.
ARRIVAL
A natural rock pool sits on its own deck, reached easily from the main area. It looks down over the active waterhole and out across the Savuti Plains, and the middle of a hot day is exactly when most guests end up in it.
IN THE FOREST
A compact gym holds a multi-station machine, a stationary bike, a dumbbell set and yoga mats. It is enough to keep a routine going through a stay, with the stillness of the bush on the other side of the wall.
ARRIVAL
The boma is a campfire area under open sky, and most evenings end there. Guests gather around the fire after dinner to go back over what the day turned up, with the sounds of the surrounding bush carrying in from the dark.
IN THE FOREST
A shelf of books on animals, flora and natural history sits in the main area, for the slow hours between the morning and afternoon drives. It is a good place to work out exactly what it was you saw earlier.

DINING
The curio shop carries a small selection to take home from Savuti, and accepts both cash and card payments, which is worth knowing somewhere this far from a town.
POOLSIDE
A daily laundry service is included for every guest. On a trip where air transfers cap luggage at 20kg in a soft bag, that changes what you need to pack, and most guests end up travelling with less than they expected to.
DINING
The lodge runs on a solar farm supplying its renewable energy, alongside modern waste disposal systems. Ghoha Hills Savuti holds an Eco Tourism certification for the low impact it keeps on the land, which is the condition of operating inside a national park.
POOLSIDE
Wi-Fi reaches the main area and the pool deck. There is no telephone communication at the lodge, which keeps a satellite phone and a radio for emergencies, and every suite carries an air horn. Expect to be largely out of contact while you are in Savuti.
The spa sits in its own building beside the gym, opening out toward the plains below. A range of massage treatments is available through the day, and the quiet stretch after lunch is when most guests take one. Treatments are arranged at the lodge during your stay.
WHERE YOU SLEEP
Nine suites for two and two family suites, each raised on its own platform with a private deck facing the waterhole and the plains.
Guided drives morning and afternoon, longer excursions out to the marsh and the rock art, and the birds, the stars and the sundowners that fill in around them.
A thatched main lodge with a bar and lounges, indoor and outdoor dining, a natural rock swimming pool, a spa, a compact gym, a boma firepit and a library, all set above an active waterhole on the Savuti Plains.
