FAQ

Zimbali Lodge & Spa is at 1 Lodge Lane inside Zimbali Coastal Estate at Ballito, on the KwaZulu-Natal Dolphin Coast. It is about five minutes from Ballito and roughly 20 minutes from King Shaka International Airport.

Yes. Guests are sent an SMS access code the day before arrival, and the North Gate asks for a driver’s licence and a copy of the booking confirmation. Your room key then opens the gates for the rest of your stay.

No. The stretch of coast below Zimbali Coastal Estate is not a designated swimming beach and has no shark nets and no lifeguards. Guests swim at the lodge’s rim-flow pool or at the Valley of the Pools, and other bathing beaches are nearby.

A shuttle runs there from the lodge porte cochere through the day, or it is about a 20-minute walk along the beach path beside Block 7. The shuttle carries a charge for guests who are not Vacation Club members. Reception books it.

No. Every room at Zimbali Lodge looks onto forest or garden. The sea view is from the lodge’s rim-flow pool, and from the Valley of the Pools across the estate.

No. Zimbali Lodge does not accept pets, and a no-smoking policy applies throughout the lodge.

Yes. Dream Xplorers runs at Zimbali Lodge, and children sign up at reception on arrival to collect their digital passport. The Bushbuck Club on the estate has a play area with a waterslide, trampolines, jungle gyms and a soccer field.

The lodge runs a backup generator. Some services may be limited while it is running, and a daily generator fuel levy can apply. There is no battery-operated lighting as a fallback, so a torch is worth packing.
