Canoes and lifejackets are provided for a safe and enjoyable outing.

Due to Hyacinth infestation in the dam, fishing may sometimes be unavailable. Cast a line and enjoy a relaxed day of fly or bait fishing on the dam, known for species including carp, yellowfish, kurper and barbel. Whether you are an experienced angler or simply keen to give it a try, fishing equipment is available to hire from the lodge.

Finfoot Lake Reserve sits in the Elands River Game Reserve at Vaalkop Dam in North West, about 90 minutes’ drive from both Johannesburg and Pretoria, and roughly 49km from Pilanesberg International Airport.

The final approach runs 14km on gravel and then about 7.7km on a sand road inside the reserve. A standard car manages it in normal conditions, but drive slowly and allow extra time. Phone reception on arrival to have the gate opened.

Yes. Children are welcomed at Finfoot Lake Reserve, with a supervised Dream Xplorers programme, a kids’ play area, two swimming pools and a games room.

Guided game drives, night drives, bush walks, birding walks, Segway safaris, canoeing, fishing, clay pigeon shooting and mountain biking, plus a wellness spa. Most activities are guided and booked at reception.

Yes. Finfoot Lake Reserve is inside a working game reserve, so a conservation levy is charged per person per day for lodge guests and renters, with a reduced rate for children. Current amounts are confirmed at booking.

The reserve runs a backup generator during load shedding or Eskom outages. Some services may be limited while it is running, and a generator fuel levy can apply.
