It is the only all-inclusive resort on the KwaZulu-Natal South Coast, which means your meals, your drinks, your activities and the evening’s entertainment are all settled before you unpack.

Days here find their own shape. Guests can walk down to the beach where a lounger and umbrella are already set out, spend the afternoon moving between the two pools and the water slides, or take a surf lesson with one of the team. Every stay includes one adventure activity a day, so there is always something to say yes to. 

Families do well here. Mini Marlins looks after the toddlers, Beach Bums takes the five to twelves, and teenagers claim Surf Vibes for themselves. That leaves the grown-ups free for a treatment at the Mangwanani Dream Spa, a game on the screens at Coconut Cove Lounge, or a swing chair at the Blue Pearl Bar while the sun goes down over the water.

Dinner is where the day gathers. The Lighthouse Restaurant seats 150 indoors and another 64 out on the deck, and most evenings carry a theme worth dressing for, from a Sophiatown night to a Mexican fiesta. Children get their own buffet with build-your-own pizzas. It is a generous, easy sort of place, and guests come back year after year.

A seven-day-a-week entertainment programme runs alongside everything the resort already has on site, and one adventure activity a day comes with every stay. The Adventure Desk books the rest, from a dive charter to a tee time.

Just past the putt-putt course, the centre runs archery, crossbow shooting and airgun target shooting, with a safe gel water option for smaller children. Every family gets one complimentary round a day, and extra ammunition carries a small charge. Children under 12 need an adult with them.

Full PADI dive qualifications and a Resort Course for first-timers, with Bubble Makers introducing younger children to diving safely. If diving is not for you, there are dolphin swims, snorkelling and whale viewing from the boat. Based on the ground floor across from reception.

Pools and Slides

An activity pool carrying the water slides and a super tube, alongside a heated relaxation pool held between 25 and 28 degrees all year. Inflatables and pool accessories are available. Loungers left unoccupied for over 30 minutes are cleared and stored at reception.

Across from reception, the cinema room screens family films from older favourites to newer releases, with popcorn to go alongside. Screenings follow the daily entertainment programme rather than fixed times, so check the schedule at the Adventure Desk when you arrive.

Beside the pools, the court takes action cricket, tennis, volleyball, basketball, soccer, badminton and bowls. Join a scheduled session or sign equipment out at the Adventure Desk and organise your own game. Runs until 18:00 at the latest, weather permitting.

Nine holes laid out on the lawn beside the pools, each with its own twists and obstacles. Sign putters and balls out at the Adventure Desk against a deposit, refunded when the equipment comes back. Open 09:00 to 18:00 and reliably competitive.

Blue Marlin All-Inclusive Seascape includes breakfast, brunch, lunch, afternoon tea and dinner at the Lighthouse Restaurant, a selected beverage package, the daily entertainment programme, the kids’ clubs and one adventure activity per day. Premium brands and some off-site excursions cost extra.

The resort is about forty minutes south of Durban by car, and 108km from King Shaka International Airport. Scottburgh sits just off the N2, so the drive is straightforward. Turn-by-turn directions from the airport are on the Contact page.

Scottburgh Beach is 200 metres from the resort, reached across the lawns and through the resort’s own beach gate. It has lifeguards and shark nets, and the team sets out a lounger and umbrella for guests each day.

Yes. Three supervised kids’ clubs run by age, from toddlers through to teenagers, alongside a playground, a cinema room and a dedicated children’s buffet at dinner. Babysitting can be arranged with 24 hours’ notice and a minimum booking applies.

Most on-site activities are signed out at the Adventure Desk on the day. Spa treatments and the wet areas run by appointment, so book those through reception early in your stay. Off-site excursions and dive charters are arranged through the Concierge and Adventure Desk.

No. Blue Marlin All-Inclusive Seascape does not accept pets, and a no-smoking policy applies throughout the resort. Registered service animals should be discussed with the resort directly before you travel.

The resort runs a backup generator during load shedding or a technical fault on the grid. Some services and facilities may be limited while it is running, and the resort can tell you which ones when you check in.
