Camping Without Sharing the Ablution Block

The campsites at Jackalberry Ridge sit on the same grounds as the safari tents, in the bush at Marloth Park, 20km from Crocodile Bridge Gate into the Kruger. Each site has its own private ablution with a shower, an outdoor shower, hot and cold water from a gas geyser, and a covered common area with a kitchenette, storage, a patio and an outdoor dishwashing area.

There is 220v power with both a caravan plug and a three-point plug, braai facilities with a grid, Wi-Fi, and a splash pool on the site itself. The ablution and braai are serviced Monday to Saturday, with no service on Sundays and a limited service on public holidays. The pool, jungle gym, trampoline and garden chess in the main entertainment area are open to campers too.

The kitchenette comes with no equipment, and the resort does not stock tent poles, pegs or couplings, which are also not available to buy in Marloth Park. Bring your own from home and stock up before you arrive.

SITE RULES

How the Sites Work

Occupancy

Maximum of 6 people per site, including children and toddlers of all ages.

Check-in and check-out

Check-in from 14:00, check-out before 10:00. Late check-out is charged at R250 an hour or part thereof.

After dark

No walking or cycling between sunset and sunrise. Predators get through the fence from time to time.

Equipment

Please do not adjust geysers, pool pumps or gas bottles. Contact management instead.

Vehicles

Maximum of 2 vehicles per site.

Noise

No loud noise, music or parties.

Pool

No shampoo, bubble bath or other substances in the splash pool or swimming pool, and no heating contraptions.

Quad bikes

Not permitted on the property.

What Campers Get Up To

Game viewing, birding, garden chess, the trampoline and the jungle gym are all on the grounds, and the Kruger is 20km away.

Game viewing from camp

Marloth Park is unfenced between properties, so kudu, impala, warthog and other small game move through the grounds without anyone arranging it. Much of the viewing at Jackalberry Ridge happens from your own deck, coffee in hand.

Birdwatching

More than 300 bird species have been recorded here. Look for red-winged starling, pearl-breasted swallow, brown-throated martin, horus swift and red-billed oxpecker by day, and listen for African scops-owl and pearl-spotted owlet after dark.

A splash pool comes with every tent and every campsite, and a communal pool sits in the entertainment area. Keep shampoo, bubble bath and any heating contraptions out of the water, since both damage the treatment.

An oversized chess set is laid out on paving near the pool with the bushveld behind it. It reliably pulls in people who claim not to play, and a single game can run most of an evening.

The jungle gym and trampoline sit beside the pool and within sight of the seating, so an afternoon can be supervised from a chair. The covered patio doubles as a play area when it rains.

A maximum of six people, including children and toddlers of all ages, and a maximum of two vehicles per site. Each site takes one caravan plus a small tent, one camping trailer plus a small tent, two tents, or two rooftop tents.

No. The kitchenette at each site comes with no equipment, and the resort does not stock tent poles, pegs or couplings. These cannot be bought in Marloth Park either, so bring everything you need from home.

Yes. The private ablution and braai area at each site are serviced Monday to Saturday. There is no service on Sundays, and a limited housekeeping service runs on public holidays.
