A Self-Catering Camp Set Up for Long, Slow Afternoons

Jackalberry Ridge is fully self-catering, and the grounds are set up to match. There is a communal pool with the jungle gym, trampoline and garden chess alongside it, a splash pool at every unit, and a lapa with braai facilities wherever you are staying. Wi-Fi reaches the units and the entertainment area, a backup generator covers load shedding, and reception will point you at the restaurants, shop and petrol station in Marloth Park. There is no restaurant, bar or shop on the property, so it pays to arrive with the cooler box full.

Where the Afternoon Ends Up

The communal pool sits beside the entertainment area and is where most afternoons end up. It is shallow enough at one end for small children and shaded in parts, and it is the natural meeting point once the day’s game viewing is done.

PRIVATE SPLASH POOLS

Your Own Water, Two Steps From the Deck

Every safari tent and every campsite has its own splash pool on the deck or in the site, so you can cool off without leaving your unit. No foreign substances such as shampoo or bubble bath may go into the water, and heating contraptions are not permitted.

BRAAI FACILITIES AND LAPA

The Kitchen Everyone Actually Uses

Each unit has a lapa with a dining table, chairs and a braai with a grid, and the campsites have their own braai under cover. This is the resort’s kitchen in every practical sense, and the braai areas are serviced Monday to Saturday.

JUNGLE GYM

First Stop Once the Car Is Unpacked

The jungle gym stands in the shade near the pool and entertainment area, within sight of the seating, so parents can keep an eye on things from a chair. It is the first place most children head for once the car is unpacked.

TRAMPOLINE

Bounce Off the Long Drive

A full-size trampoline sits on a soft surround beside the pool area and takes care of a good part of the afternoon. It sees as much use from adults as from children, which no at reception will confirm officially.

GARDEN CHESS

A Long Game Before Dinner

An oversized garden chess set is laid out on paving near the pool, with the bushveld as the backdrop. It draws in the children who claim not to play chess and settles into a long game most evenings before dinner.

WI-FI

Connected in the Units and the Entertainment Area

Wi-Fi covers the units and the entertainment area, so you can send photographs home or check the gate times for the Kruger. Coverage depends on power supply, so it can drop while the resort is running on generator.

BACKUP GENERATOR

The Lights Stay On

A backup generator carries the resort through load shedding and Eskom interruptions. It runs to selected times, shared with guests through the in-house WhatsApp group, and a daily generator fuel levy may apply. The resort will confirm the current arrangement.

CARAVAN AND CAMPING SITES

Bring Your Own Setup

Serviced sites take a caravan, a camping trailer or tents, each with a private ablution, a covered common area, a kitchenette, power points, a braai and a splash pool. Sites take a maximum of six people and two vehicles.

SHADED PARKING

Park in the Shade, Walk to Your Deck

Every safari tent has its own shaded parking within a short walk of the deck, which matters in the Lowveld heat. Campsites take up to two vehicles each.

RECEPTION AND GATE ACCESS

Your Gate Code Before You Arrive

Reception handles arrivals, local advice and bookings for activities in the area. Access is through a boom gate, and your code is sent by WhatsApp before check-in so late arrivals are not left waiting.

HOUSEKEEPING AND LAUNDRY

Serviced Six Days a Week

Units are serviced Monday to Saturday, with no service on Sundays and a limited service on public holidays. Linen and bath towels are supplied. Swimming towels are not, so bring your own.

Slide Spa is a short drive from Jackalberry Ridge, on the banks of the Crocodile River, and a full-body massage there is a fair way to spend the hours between a morning in the Kruger and an evening at the braai. Reception will help you arrange it.

Marloth Park is unfenced between properties, so kudu, impala, warthog and other small game move through the grounds without anyone arranging it. Much of the viewing at Jackalberry Ridge happens from your own deck, coffee in hand.

No. Jackalberry Ridge is fully self-catering and has no restaurant, bar or shop on the property. A restaurant, bar and shop sit adjacent to the resort, and Marloth Park has a small grocer, a liquor store and a petrol station.

Yes. Every safari tent and every serviced campsite at Jackalberry Ridge has its own splash pool, and there is a communal swimming pool in the entertainment area alongside the jungle gym, trampoline and garden chess set.
