The Whole Lodge, or Just the Fire

There is no function room here and no seating plan to work around. What there is instead: a lakeside boma where the kudu horn opens the evening, a restaurant deck above the water that can be taken privately, a villa that sleeps a single group on an exclusive-use basis, and a boat that can be chartered whole. Small groups work well on this peninsula precisely because it is difficult to reach and quiet once you are here.

A private boma evening runs the way the lodge already gathers: kudu horn, a hand-washing ritual with bowl and calabash, open-fire cooking and, on alternate nights, Zulu song and storytelling. The Lake View Restaurant offers private dining by arrangement. Malkoha Villa is taken on an exclusive-use basis with a dedicated host and a private chef. And the False Bay Safaris boat can be chartered whole.

Small private gatherings work well here. The lakeside boma, private dining at the Lake View Restaurant, exclusive use of Malkoha Villa and a private boat charter can all be arranged. There is no function room and no large-scale venue.

No. Malkoha Lake St. Lucia does not offer a weddings or conferencing product. The lodge is a small ferry-access property inside the iSimangaliso Wetland Park, built around guided experiences on the water and in the forest.

Numbers depend on which space you use, and a boat charter is capped at ten guests. Speak to the lodge with your group size and dates, because capacity on this peninsula is shaped by the ferry as much as by the room.

Yes. Private charters on the False Bay Safaris boat can be arranged, with a maximum of ten guests per departure. Contact the lodge for current rates and availability, and book well ahead because seats are limited.

Malkoha Villa is taken on an exclusive-use basis and comes with a dedicated host and a private chef. It is the only unit at the lodge built for a single group travelling together.

The evening opens with the call of the kudu horn and a hand-washing ritual using a bowl and calabash. Dinner comes off an open fire beside the lake, and on alternate nights Zulu song, drumming and storytelling carry the meal into the night.
