DINING AT PIEKENIERSKLOOF
There is one restaurant here and it does everything, which is part of the appeal. Breakfast runs early for anyone heading out to walk or drive, lunch runs long, and dinner tends to stretch on because nobody is in a rush to leave the deck. The menu is varied and cooked to order by the resort’s own kitchen team, with real options for children on it, and dietary requirements handled when you give the kitchen notice. If you are staying in a chalet, the covered braai on your own patio is the other way to eat here.

DINING EXPERIENCES
AT YOUR CHALET
Braai equipment for hotel guests is pre-booked at reception at a per person rate. Communal braai facilities carry a surcharge.
Every self-catering chalet has a covered braai on a furnished patio and a fully equipped kitchen behind it, which is the reason a lot of families book the chalets in the first place. Guests in the hotel rooms can use the communal braai facilities instead, with the grid, cutlery and crockery provided by the resort. Both are arranged at reception, so mention it when you check in.
ACROSS DREAM HOTELS AND RESORTS
From mountain kitchens in the Cederberg to boma fires in the bush, every Dream Hotels and Resorts restaurant is shaped by where it stands.
Kloof Restaurant at Piekenierskloof Mountain Resort serves daily from 06:30 to 21:00, covering breakfast, lunch and dinner. The bar alongside it closes at 22:00, and later service for a function can be arranged in advance.
Booking is not usually necessary for a quiet night, but the restaurant does fill when a conference or a wedding is in, so it is worth reserving through reception if you are a larger group or you have a particular time in mind.
Yes. The menu at Kloof Restaurant carries kid-friendly options throughout, which is deliberate on a mountain resort where most tables have children at them.
Vegetarian and vegan meals are available on request. Halaal meals can be arranged at an additional per meal rate with fourteen days’ notice, as the meat is ordered in from Cape Town. The kitchen is not halaal certified and does not cater for strict halaal or kosher requirements.
Every self-catering chalet has a covered braai and a fully equipped kitchen. Guests staying in hotel rooms can use the communal braai facilities, with equipment pre-booked at reception and a surcharge applied.
Room service is available to guests staying in the hotel rooms and suites. Self-catering chalets are not on room service, since they come with their own kitchen, braai and dining area.

Fine artworks guide the way as you stroll past reception, through to the lounge and bar area beyond. The room opens onto the terrace, and the terrace opens onto the whole valley.
The bar sits alongside the restaurant in the main building, well stocked with local beers and a fine selection of wines, and it is where most days here quietly end. The bar closes at ten in the evening under normal circumstances, and additional service can be arranged in advance for a function running later than that.
For groups the bar doubles as an events space. Quiz nights, karaoke evenings and cocktail evenings are all run here, along with beer and wine tastings and a gin and rooibos tasting that leans on what the surrounding valley actually grows. Arrange any of them with the resort ahead of your stay.

With the most exquisite natural light, crisp finishes and stunning views, La Pavillion offers guests a chance to start their day with elegance and flair. Furnished in calming natural tones, clean lines, and white tablecloths accented with indigenous floral arrangements, the space is ethereal in the morning sun.
The restaurant sits in the main building at the top of the pass, with glass along one side and a deck running the length of it. Breakfast starts at half past six for guests heading out early to walk, climb or drive the flower route, and the kitchen stays open through to nine in the evening. The cooking is generous and unfussy, and the menu changes often enough that a week here does not repeat itself.
Groups are handled as a mini buffet or a la carte depending on numbers, which is how conference lunches and dinners are served as well. Children get real options right across the menu. Vegetarian and vegan meals are available on request, and the kitchen can arrange halaal meals with fourteen days’ notice, though it is not itself halaal certified.
It is the one room everyone at the resort ends up in.
