A Venue That Puts the Cederberg Outside the Window

Piekenierskloof sits directly on the N7 between Cape Town and Namibia, which makes it reachable for a delegate list drawn from either side of the province and far enough out for a group to actually concentrate. Two meeting rooms seat 60 each and open into a single venue for 120. Both come fully set up, both open onto tiled patios, and there is an outdoor braai and fire pit between them for the part of the day that matters as much as the agenda. Accommodation, catering, a wellness centre and a full activity list are all a short walk away, so a two day conference never needs a second address.

How many delegates can Piekenierskloof Mountain Resort seat?

The resort has two conference venues seating 60 delegates each, which open into a single room for up to 120. Boardroom seating takes 26 per room and U-shape takes 40 per room, both figures applying to each individual venue.

What audiovisual equipment is included?

Conference packages at Piekenierskloof include an HD wireless projector and screen, HD surround sound, microphones, a podium, flip charts and markers, and complimentary Wi-Fi, along with sweets, water and cordials in the room.

How far is the venue from Cape Town?

Piekenierskloof sits directly on the N7 at the top of Piekenierskloof Pass above Citrusdal, roughly a two hour drive north of Cape Town and its international airport. Delegates driving from the West Coast or the Winelands reach it on the same road.

Can delegates stay on site?

Yes. The resort has 22 hotel rooms and 16 self-catering chalets a few minutes’ walk from the venues, and one of the conference packages includes accommodation with dinner and breakfast.

What is there for team building?

Team building uses the resort’s own facilities: supervised group archery, air golf, mini golf, walking trails leading out from the lawns, and a games room. Quiz nights, karaoke and tastings at the bar are arranged in advance.

Can you cater for dietary requirements at a conference?

Kloof Restaurant caters vegetarian and vegan on request. Halaal meals carry an additional per meal charge and need a fortnight’s notice, because certified meat is brought in from Cape Town. The kitchen holds no halaal certification and cannot handle strict halaal or kosher catering.

Is the conference venue wheelchair accessible?

Yes, the conference facilities at Piekenierskloof are wheelchair friendly, and a wheelchair-friendly hotel room and chalet are available on request. Flag any access requirements when you request your quote.

Get Them Out of the Room and Onto the Lawn

Team building here uses what the resort already has, so there is no separate programme to buy in. Archery runs as a supervised group session with fifteen bows, and mini golf settles departmental rivalries faster than anything on a flip chart. Walking trails lead straight out into the fynbos for a group that wants air, and the games room, the fire pit and the bar take care of the evening, with quiz nights, karaoke and tastings arranged in advance.

Recreational

The race starts at your own offices and navigates by clues and instructions, with pit stops at places of interest, ending at the secretly booked venue. A memorable way to arrive.

Top Chef Cookout

A potjiekos competition, braai or breakfast cook-off, with secret ingredients and old recipes or simply whatever is on the table. It comes down to who the real cooks are.

Cocktail Creations

30 minutes to 1.5 hours

Teams build a cocktail from spirits, mixers, sugar, honey, milk or cream, blend it and hand it over for judging.

Smoothie Creations

30 minutes to 1.5 hours

Teams create a smoothie from fresh fruit and a few special ingredients. A good way to open or close a conference.

Based on the television format, with teams competing using household and office objects. Short, loud and reliably good for team spirit.

Presented by day or night, and it can be a music montage, a 30-second challenge or a short film festival.

Teams write a script, produce it and act in it. Lights, camera, and a screening nobody forgets.

Traditional longbow archery with a basic introduction to handling and aiming, and a quick discovery of who has a natural talent for it.

Raft Building

Half day

Cryptic clues lead to the equipment, the team builds a raft that holds together, and then they race it.

Qolf

1 to 2 hours

Somewhere between golf and croquet. Hit the ball through the Qolf frame, hone your chipping and pitching, and let every age group have a go.
