A Full Day in the Water, Two Hours from Cape Town

Bring the whole family and make a day of the best of Montagu in our natural hot spring pools. Children work through the water slide and whatever else is running at the activity centre, from soccer to volleyball to chess, while the grown-ups get a braai going in the picnic areas, book a treatment at the spa, or simply stay in the water. Order a picnic or braai basket ahead, work through the poolside menu at Dassie’s, grab something quick from the cafe, or sit down properly at Cogman’s Restaurant, which has a menu built for adults and children in equal measure.

Four Things Worth Arranging In Advance

Order a Picnic Basket

Order ahead and we will pack a basket with alcoholic or non-alcoholic drinks included. This is the only route to alcohol on the property for day visitors.

Reserve a Braai

Braai facilities can be reserved for your exclusive use and come with the grid, wood, charcoal and firelighters. No need to bring any of it.

Stock Up at the Cafe

Groceries, snacks and ice cream are on sale at the cafe through the day, so nobody has to leave and come back.

Book a Treatment

The Wellness Spa takes day visitors as well as overnight guests, 08:00 to 17:00 daily. Booking ahead is essential.

A Few Things Before You Arrive

Parking

There is no day visitor parking on the premises. Guests may be dropped at the entrance, and vehicles must be parked outside the Montagu Springs entrance.

What you can bring

Your own umbrella, gazebo or camping chairs, since seating and shade are limited. Your own food and soft drinks, subject to a surcharge of R100 per cooler bag or cooler box.

What you cannot bring

External liquor of any kind, speakers or loud music, and weapons or dangerous items.

Searches

Belongings may be checked on arrival and management reserves the right to remove any alcohol or dangerous items. Right of admission is reserved.

The Rules That Keep The Day Working

Capacity:
A maximum of 300 day visitors. Management reserves the right to limit access on a first come, first served basis.

Wristbands:
You will be issued a wristband on arrival and must wear it at all times. Wristbands are valid for the day only, are non-transferable, and may not be removed and reissued.

Where you can go:
Access is limited to the Avalon Springs day visitor area. Montagu Springs is privately owned and is not accessible from here.

Stay Over and the Pools Are Yours in the Evening

Overnight and timeshare guests get about 1,800 square metres of the resort to themselves, including five pools and a super tube, behind a gate that opens in the evening once the day visitors have gone.

Yes. Avalon Springs sells day passes to its natural hot springs in Montagu, booked online in advance through the resort’s activity booking system. Numbers are capped each day, so book before you travel.

From 08:00 every day. Closing is later in summer than in winter, so check the hours on the day visitors page before you plan a late afternoon arrival at Avalon Springs.

Access to the natural hot springs, the water slide, the picnic and braai facilities, the activity centre and kids programme, the information centre, the spa, Cogman’s Restaurant, Dassie’s Poolside Bistro and the cafe. Treatments and meals are charged separately.

Own food and soft drinks are allowed with a surcharge per cooler bag or cooler box. External liquor is not permitted at all; alcohol is served on the property and can be included in a picnic basket ordered ahead.
