Mjejane Game Reserve is reached off the N4 about 2.5km past Hectorspruit, on the left between Malelane and Komatipoort. Look for the small Mjejane gate, then follow the signs through the reserve past Mjejane River Lodge to Bush Camp reception.

Kruger Mpumalanga International Airport, just outside Nelspruit, is about 45 minutes from Mjejane Game Reserve. It takes connecting flights from Johannesburg, Cape Town and Durban, and car hire is available at the airport.

Mjejane Bush Camp is roughly a four-hour drive from Gauteng, taking the N4 east through Nelspruit and Malelane towards Komatipoort. The reserve gate is on the left about 2.5km past Hectorspruit.

Reception at Mjejane Bush Camp is open 07:30 to 16:00 Monday to Thursday, 07:30 to 18:00 on Friday, 07:30 to 14:00 on Saturday and public holidays, and 09:00 to 14:00 on Sunday.

Yes. Guests drive themselves into Mjejane Game Reserve and between the gate and their chalet, and a gate fee is charged per vehicle. Off-site trips to the Kruger gates, Malelane and the golf courses all need a car.

Yes. Mjejane Bush Camp runs a WhatsApp line on +27 (0)73 278 9158, staffed during reception hours from Monday to Saturday. Game drives are booked through it, and the number is answered around the clock for emergencies.

Finding Mjejane Bush Camp

The reserve is within easy reach of all the major centres. It is roughly a four-hour drive from Gauteng, and 45 minutes from Kruger Mpumalanga International Airport, which takes connecting flights from Johannesburg, Cape Town and Durban.

Finding the gate

The reserve is reached off the N4, about 2.5km past Hectorspruit, on the left-hand side between Malelane and Komatipoort on the road towards Maputo and Eswatini.

From Nelspruit, step by step

  1. Take the N4 east towards Komatipoort and Maputo. Coming from Johannesburg you will pass through Nelspruit.
  2. Pass through Malelane town and carry on towards Hectorspruit on the N4, about 15km.
  3. Pass Hectorspruit, which will be on your left. You will see an Engen garage. Continue for another 2.5km.
  4. The Mjejane Game Reserve gate is on your left. It is a small gate, so look out for the Mjejane signs.
  5. Enter the gate and continue straight for about 2km. You will pass under a railway bridge and reach a second gate.
  6. Tell security you are going to Mjejane Bush Camp.
  7. Follow the road and the signs through the park towards Mjejane River Lodge. You will cross a cattle grid. Do not turn left.
  8. Carry straight on down this road.
  9. At the fork, turn left.
  10. Go past the River Lodge and follow the Mjejane Share Block sign to the top. Reception is in front of you.

By air

  • Nearest airport: Kruger Mpumalanga International Airport, just outside Nelspruit, 45 minutes from the reserve.
  • Connections: Johannesburg, Cape Town and Durban.
  • Car hire: Available at the airport.

Before you drive in

  1. Gate access: There is no access onto the reserve without a QR code.
  2. Gate fee and road levy: Charged per vehicle for the stay, with a separate day-visitor rate. Current figures held with reservations, subject to change.
  3. Vehicle: You will need your own vehicle. Guests drive themselves from the gate to the chalet, and the reserve is Big 5 territory, so stay in the vehicle with the doors closed.
  4. Speed limit: 40km/h, main road only.
